New MJJC Foam Cannon S V3.0 Review
Regular readers of this blog will know that I am a big fan of MJJC products, especially their foam cannons. Over the past few years, I have been using their cannons exclusively as I find them excellent value at the price point given the performance they offer, compared to some other brands.
My cannon of choice at the moment is their Foam Cannon Pro V2.0 (which also won Best Snow Foam Lance 2021 in the Auto Express competition)
MJJC have recently released their V3 of the ‘S‘ range of foam cannons (which is separate from the pro line) and reached out to me to see if I was interested in trying it out for myself – which of course I jumped all over the opportunity.
Let’s take a look!
Initial Impressions On Delivery
The cannon arrived in nice-looking and good-quality packaging – which is typical of MJJC. There was also a summary of the updates to version 3 of the product which includes
What’s New with S V3.0
- New Structure – easier and smoother to control 360-degree spray.
- New Straw Tube – easier to consume all the liquid in the bottle.
- New Bottle and Cap – easier to attach the bottle to foam cannon body.
- New Foam Technology – thicker “shaving cream” foam.
More Features since Version 2.0
- MJJC Connection/Fitting – easier and faster to attach fitting, no need for glue or PTFE tape.
- MJJC Foam Technology – less noise, less soap but thicker foam.
- MJJC Style Bottle – less possibility to tip over.
Upon opening the package I was greeted with a rather handsome-looking cannon, which is far better looking and more modern compared to some of the older MJJC products. The designers have done a great job on this one and I’m really liking the colour scheme.
Everything that I needed in order to use the cannon was included in the box and required about 1 minute of assembly where I had to attach the tube and also the adapter for use with my Karcher pressure washer. (MJJC supplies a range of different fittings so if you are ordering one, make sure you get the correct adaptor). All the assembly instructions are provided and are really easy and quick to follow.
Within a few minutes, it was set up and ready for testing. The foam of choice was obviously going to be MJJC foam, as this was designed for use with the MJJC cannons. I have tried this foam before and couldn’t believe how thick it was when it was applied to the car, so I was expecting a similar experience again this time.
MJJC Foam Cannon S V3.0 Review
Once the cannon was set up I gathered the rest of the equipment needed to carry out a full maintenance wash(2 buckets, wash mitt etc) and proceeded to apply the foam onto the car. Although the cannon is made from high-quality materials, it still felt quite light a the end of my pressure washer lance and found it easy to apply the foam to all parts of the car.
As expected, as soon as a let loose with the foam cannon, the amount of thick foam being produced was almost unbelievable. These guys were not joking when they described it as being “shaving cream” like foam. The foam literally clung to the car and I could see it making its way into every nook and cranny of the paintwork. It was a sight to behold!
Aside from the thick foam, the other thing that impressed me was how great the spray pattern was and how easy it was to adjust the flow and angle of the foam – absolutely simple to use and very easy and quick to find the settings that will work best for you. The new suction tube worked really well at picking up all the liquid from the bottle without any hesitation or gaps in the flow.
I let the foam sit on the car for about 5 minutes or so to do its job of loosening up any dirt and debris on the surface of the paint.
Once the foam looked like it had done its job, I then rinsed the car using the pressure washer.
Similarly to the last time that I had used this foam, after rinsing the car was left with practically nothing left on the surface in terms of any dust/dirt that was there previous to the application of the foam. ( You can find a full review of the foam in a previous post here)
MJJC Foam Cannon S V3.0 Summary – Any Good?
This new V3 version of the cannon worked exactly as described and I can say it is consistent with the quality I have seen from MJJC over the last number of years. Things I particularly liked about this model were the new easy twist and lock mechanism to close the bottle top. Easy one-turn motion instead of the multiple spin-off top like the previous versions of their S model cannon.
The new design was also great and a lot more modern looking than the previous versions.
All in all a very solid cannon at a reasonable price.
One thing that confused me slightly is that this model is priced exactly the same as the “Pro” version that I had been currently using and performed pretty much equally as well, so I am not sure why someone would pick this over the pro version or vice versa. The only thing different about them really is the look and the shape of the bottle. (Although the pro version doesn’t have the quick twist top that this does – but I imagine it will be in V3 of the Pro.)
I believe the pro has an “anti-leak cap” but I didn’t notice any leaks from the S cap either, so I guess the choice between the two comes down to personal preference.
